Meet the new staff for Adrian’s
all new Conferences and Catering operation
ADRIAN, Mich. – To host an event
to remember, it helps to know the right people.
At Adrian College, that means meeting
Jana Van Buren, the new director of conferences, and
Pat DuMont, the new catering manager for Sodexho food
service at Adrian College. These two were both recently
appointed as the leaders for the College’s greatly
expanded catering and event hosting capabilities.

There’s been a buzz about how
Adrian College has updated its campus extensively in
recent years. While this is good for students, what
few people realize is that it also is good for people
planning parties and meetings.
Last summer the dining hall was renovated
into Ritchie Marketplace, a dynamic indoor food court
with an outdoor patio. Next door is the Adrian Tobias
Room, the main banquet facility on campus that was so
completely renovated a few months ago that many people
don’t recognize it.
A range of different-sized meeting
rooms – including a large executive board room
– are located in Caine Student Center, which was
renovated within the last five years. There is meeting
space off the concourse of the new performance stadium,
and there are meeting spaces and computer training rooms
in Shipman Library.
The chapel, partially renovated within
the past year, makes the College a popular choice for
weddings and receptions. Adrian’s beautiful campus
also provides a number of unique outdoor settings, including
a pavilion at the south end of the stadium.
“I live in the area and had
no idea how equipped the College was for hosting events,”
Jana said. “I don’t think people are always
aware of what Adrian College has to offer. The catering
service’s menu is phenomenal, and they cater off
campus as well as on campus.”
Both Jana and Pat live with their
families in Adrian. They are excited about how their
areas at the College are likely to thrive and grow.
“We’re in the middle of
a big turnaround for Adrian College, and it’s
a wonderful time to be a part of all that,” Pat
said. “I think that when the word starts to get
out we are going to see conferences and catering really
begin to blossom.”
