ADRIAN, Mich. - Adrian College
now has a new honorary society. Pi Sigma Alpha,
the national political science honorary society,
has recently been installed as the Alpha Zeta
Beta chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, inducting a
total of nine members.
The formal initiation took
place on April 16 and the development of the
society started last October; the chapter advisor
is Dr. James Hanley, Adrian College associate
professor of political science. Will Morrisey,
a professor from Hillsdale College and member
of Pi Sigma Alpha, was present at the ceremony
last Thursday, and Dr. Dale Nesbary, vice president
and dean of academic affairs was also present
to say a few words.
Matt Stiller, president and
founder of the new society, said that Pi Sigma
Alpha is usually the cornerstone of any political
science department and that he’s happy
to see Adrian College now offer it.
"This is a momentous
occasion for both academics and political science
at Adrian College,” said Stiller. “This
is something that I have been trying to make
a reality since last October, and it is great
to finally see this dream come to fruition."
