Vice President of Academic
Affairs Takes New Position posted

Dr. Dale Nesbary has
been named Muskegon Community College President
ADRIAN,
Mich. – Adrian College is proud to announce
that on April 2, 2009, Dr. Dale Nesbary, vice
president & dean of academic affairs, was
named by the Muskegon Community College Board
of Trustees as their next president.
The starting date is to be
determined but it will fall between now and
July 1, 2009. This appointment is pending Dr.
Nesbary’s contractual agreement with the
MCC Board of Trustees. Dr. Nesbary has done
outstanding work at Adrian College; Adrian’s
loss is MCC’s gain and we will miss him
greatly.
President Docking remarked
on the appointment, “In less than three
years, Dr. Nesbary’s accomplishments at
Adrian College are nothing short of extraordinary.
He has reconstructed or refurbished several
academic buildings including Communication Arts
and Sciences, Foreign Languages, Knight Auditorium,
among others throughout campus. He significantly
upgraded information technology at Adrian College
and was a key player in securing two government
grants (nearly $1,000,000) for science facility
improvements.”
“Dr. Nesbary added faculty
members in a number of critical areas and launched
a program review process that will lead Adrian
into the future,” continued Docking. “He
inaugurated four new institutes – Entrepreneurial
Studies, Health Studies, Ethics, and Study Abroad
– and enhanced morale through his honest
and ethical leadership. He will be missed.”
According to the MCC website,
Muskegon Community College is “an associate
degree-granting institution of higher education
and is a center for lifelong learning which
provides persons the opportunity to attain their
educational goals by offering programs that
respond to individual, community and global
needs.”

“Dr. Nesbary’s
appointment speaks highly of Adrian College
in that it now produces presidents for other
esteemed institutions,” said Docking.
Dr. Nesbary said that he highly
appreciates the opportunity to lead a strong
faculty and work with exceptional leaders during
these remarkable and exciting days at Adrian
College.
“I feel fortunate and
want to thank President Docking for the opportunity
to learn and grow professionally at Adrian during
these past three years,” said Nesbary.
Adrian College is a private,
co-educational college of liberal arts and sciences
related to The United Methodist Church. It is
a traditional four-year, residential college
that focuses completely on undergraduate education.
In its 2009 edition
of America’s Best Colleges, U.S. News
& World Report ranked Adrian College as
22nd in the Midwest region in its “Best
Baccalaureate Colleges” section. The College
was also ranked as a “School to Watch”.
