Fulbright
Programs Offered for Adrian College Graduates
posted 4/13/09
Information sessions
will be held on Tuesday, April 14
ADRIAN, Mich. - Adrian College
is encouraging all students to attend the information
sessions on Tuesday, April 14 regarding the
Fulbright programs available to them.
Each year, the Fulbright Program,
sponsored by the U.S. State Department, awards
grants to 1,300+ U.S. students for one academic
year in 140+ countries worldwide in all fields
of study. Projects pursued under these grants
include university course work, independent
research and professional arts training.
These grants are very competitive
and any interested junior must begin working
on their application this summer. To qualify
for these grants, one must be a U.S. citizen
in good health who is a graduating senior or
holds a bachelor’s degree or higher. Students
are encouraged to start work on their application
in April of their junior year in order to have
it completed by fall of their senior year. The
application deadline is the end of September.
Adrian College graduates remain eligible to
apply through the College at any point in the
future.
Full Fulbright grants cover
round-trip transportation, maintenance costs
for the academic year, some book and research
expenses, supplemental health and accident insurance
tuition and in some cases language and orientation
courses.
Adrian College had its first
Fulbright grant recipient last year when Amanda
Sherwood was awarded the Fulbright teaching
assistantship in Germany. Many College faculty
members have also been awarded Fulbright grants
in the past and have studied and completed research
internationally.
Those students who are interested
in learning more about all of the programs offered
through Fulbright should attend the information
sessions on April 14. Two sessions will be held;
one at noon and the other at 6 P.M., both in
the President’s Dining Room in Ritchie.
More information may also
be obtained by contacting Dr. Philip J. Howe,
