Adrian College Hosts Youth
Rally posted 4/15/08
ADRIAN, Mich. - Adrian College
played host to nearly 400 junior high youth,
advisors, and pastors at this year’s Michigan
Area Confirmands’ Rally on Saturday, April
12, 2008. Several Adrian College students provided
leadership during worship and the teaching/learning
sessions.
The event was sponsored and
coordinated by the College and the Detroit and
West Michigan Conference United Methodist Church
Councils on Youth Ministry. The rally marked
a time of workshops and worship with United
Methodist Bishop Jonathan Keaton.
Participants were challenged
to consider ways in which their decisions have
personal, local and global impact. Youth and
their adult leaders had the opportunity to learn
and fellowship with other United Methodist youth
preparing for confirmation, to meet the bishop,
and to celebrate and worship together.
“The event was a big
success,” says Adrian College Chaplain
Chris Momany. “Bishop Jonathan Keaton
did a fine job talking with the youth.”
The worship music leaders
came from the Adrian First United Methodist
Church and the Adrian College Praise Team. According
to Momany, the music was upbeat in the morning
and reflective in the afternoon.
Events such as the rally often
are a student’s first experience on a
college campus.
“Over the years, many
youth from this program have gone on to become
Adrian College students,” comments Momany.
“In fact, one of the high school students
who helped organize this year's rally will enter
our Pre-Seminary program next fall."
