Adrian College Presents
Third Senior Art Exhibition
posted 4/3/08
ADRIAN, Michigan. –
The Adrian College art department is proud to
present the third and final Senior Exhibition
in the College’s Stubnitz Gallery, April
14 - 26, 2008.
The exhibition will feature
the work of Emily Karr, Kevin Kwiatkowski, Kay
Murrell, Laura VanCamp and Kimmy Young. The
show is an eclectic mix of painting, ceramics,
digital art, and photography.
Karr works with digital photography
and prints her photos on a large scale. The
theme of her work is self-portraits through
photographs of animals. Kwiatkowski creates
ceramic musical instruments, based on the Nigerian
Udu drum. Visitors are allowed to play most
of the instruments to try out the different
sounds.
Murrell’s paintings
explore the notions of basic moral fault through
her personal renderings of the Seven Deadly
Sins. She uses symbolism, text, texture, color,
and figuration to create work that is a cross
between abstract expressionism and contemporary
primitivism. Laura VanCamp's installation explores
the female form through ceramic sculptures decorated
by the chemical flair ups caused by the saggar
firing.
Young will exhibit promotional
materials for an English language camp for Hungarian
high school students, ranging from print materials,
a web site, and a video. "Basic graphic
design can communicate more than the spoken
word," Young said.
The public is also invited
to a reception for the artists on Saturday,
April 26 between 2:00 and 4:00 P.M in the gallery.
Gallery hours are Monday
