Congratulations, graduates!
It was a proud day for Adrian
College as the most recent group of graduates joined
the ranks of alumni yesterday at spring commencement.

Milano, a 1978 graduate of the College and senior vice
president, general counsel and corporate secretary for
Eddie Bauer in Seattle, Wash., gave the commencement
address.
Milano is a nationally recognized
attorney and business leader in retail and manufacturing
environments with close to 20 years experience leading
corporate and legal departments. Prior to Eddie Bauer,
she worked for Starbucks and Honda of America.
The title of her address is “Success
in Today’s World.” It emphasized the
importance of treating people right.
Honorary degrees were awarded to Milano
and to Dr. Harry W. Speedy, a 1963 graduate of the

College and a retired doctor from
Pennsylvania. Speedy was the personal physician of golfer
Arnold Palmer.
Following the conferral of degrees,
the College held its Cane Ceremony, an Adrian College
tradition dating back to 1875. During the ceremony,
the graduating class presents the College's beloved
Shepherd's Crook to the undergraduates as a symbol of
achievement and a transfer of responsibility. Before
passing the crook, the president of the graduating class
attaches a ribbon bearing the name of each class member.
Adrian College, located in southeast
Michigan, is a private residential college established
in 1859 that is related to The United Methodist Church.
It is currently experiencing tremendous growth.
