ADRIAN, Mich. – A whirlwind
of change continues at Adrian College thanks
to the success of the Renaissance I program
that has grown freshmen enrollment by nearly
90 percent and added $15 million to the College
budget.
Witnessed in beautiful new
academic and athletic facilities, the College
is booming at a pace unmatched by other colleges
and universities throughout the country.
On Friday, March 28, at 12:15
P.M. in the Adrian Tobias Room, during his annual
State of the College Address, President Jeffrey
Docking will lay the groundwork for Renaissance
II: The complete evaluation of, and dedication
to enhancing, the academic experiences on campus.
The speech will highlight
how the remarkable advances of the past three
years and the financial resources these advances
have produced will be spent on creating a higher
level of academic excellence on campus.
“Our two-step Renaissance
plan was designed to grow the College first
and then spend the additional resources to provide
the finest private college education in the
State,” says Docking. “Our most
important job at Adrian College is to prepare
students through outstanding classroom instruction
to step into a changing world and competitive
workforce. Now we have the money to create this
educational experience.”
The speech will cover new
academic facilities and the development of new
majors and programs. It will make a major effort
to open up study abroad opportunities and encourage
students to participate in internship opportunities.
“The speech will begin
to define our shared vision as we re-imagine
our academic future,” says Docking.
The State of the College is
an annual tradition on the Adrian College campus
usually taking place on or around the College’s
anniversary and Founder’s Day of March
28. This year marks the College’s 149th
anniversary.
Since President Docking’s
arrival, the public and press have been invited
to attend the State of the College Address.
Mark your calendars to either attend in person
or to read or listen to the speech that afternoon
on the Adrian College website. (Audio and print
versions of the speech will be available on
the College website after 2 P.M. on the day
of the address.)
In addition to the speech,
a reception will take place immediately following
in the Adrian Tobias Room. President Docking
will be available during this time for Q &
A.
The Adrian Tobias Room is
adjacent to Ritchie Marketplace. A campus
map is available online. Further information
