All students, faculty
and staff are invited to attend designated talk
sessions.
ADRIAN,
Mich. – Adrian College is sponsoring a
visit from Eric Garrison, an international speaker
and trainer in healthful relationships and sexual
health promotion, who will lead two interactive
“town hall meetings” on March 18
& 19 on the College campus.
Garrison is a former coach
turned New York City sex therapist. He will
be on campus to promote healthful relationships
and sexual health in campus athletics to the
College’s athletes as well as the whole
student body and campus community. All Adrian
College students, faculty and staff are encouraged
to attend the sessions.
The first program, “When
a Relationship Goes Terribly Right: The Secrets
to Success,” will take place on Tuesday,
Mar. 18 from 7-8 P.M. in Dawson Auditorium.
This is a women-only town hall meeting to discuss
ways of improving relationships with friends,
family, classmates, professors, and romantic
partners. It is open to all campus women and
a small group session for interested females
will follow in the Bulldog Room.
A similar men-only town hall
meeting will take place on Wednesday, Mar. 19
from 7-8 P.M. in Dawson Auditorium. It is open
to all campus men and a small group session
for interested males will also follow in the
Bulldog Room.
Garrison has worked with many
universities and organizations throughout the
country. He is also the only sex therapist to
appear with Tim Gunn in the Project Runway Theater
and the only sex therapist to have worked with
the real Coach Boone-the basis for Disney’s
“Remember the Titans”.
Of his upcoming trip, Mr.
Garrison says, "I applaud Adrian College’s
efforts to reduce sexual and domestic violence
on their campus and within their local community.
I also praise the work they are doing to make
sexual health – which includes healthful
relationships – a priority on their remarkable
campus.”
Garrison also thanks the College
for their hospitality in preparedness for his
visit.
“Finally, I also offer
many thanks to everyone at Adrian College who
have demonstrated overwhelming hospitality and
careful planning to make these workshops run
so smoothly,” says Garrison.
Garrison holds master’s
degrees from the College of William and Mary
(Education) and the University of London (Sex
Research). He is a diplomat of the London School
of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), the
world’s oldest school of public health,
housed within the University of London. He has
trained with and studied alongside doctors from
around the world and has been invited to meet
with members of Parliament and the Royal Family.
In England, he has addressed
doctors and psychologists at the universities
of Leeds, London, and the prestigious Oxford.
In the United States, Garrison has been a guest
lecturer at Emory University School of Medicine,
Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and countless
undergraduate schools.
