Community Outreach Week 2008 Starts Monday

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Office of Student Activities at Adrian College is excited to announce this year’s Community Outreach Week 2008, which will take place Monday, March 31 thru Friday, April 4.

Adrian College students will be volunteering throughout the community at the Adrian Public Library, the Boys and Girls Club, Daybreak Adult Daycare, Hope Community Center, and Associated Charities. Students will be helping in various ways which include sorting donations, moving books, and playing Bingo with the elderly and basketball with children.

On Monday, March 31 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M and from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., a group of students will help move books at the Adrian Public Library. A second group will be helping with crafts at the Boys and Girls Club from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., and a third group will be playing bingo with the elderly at Daybreak Adult Daycare from 2:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M.

Students will be assisting with classes at Hope Community Center on Tuesday, April 1 from 9:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Another group of students will help move books at the Adrian Public Library 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. and 1:00 – 4:00 P.M. Others will be giving general assistance at the Daybreak Adult Daycare from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Students will also be helping with the Boys and Girls Club roller skating field trip from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Book moving will continue at the library on Wednesday, April 2, 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M and 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Students will return to the Hope Community Center to assist with classes 9:30 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. Students will also be visiting Associated Charities to help sort donations from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M and playing basketball with the children at the Boys and Girls Club 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.

On Thursday, April 3 assistance with classes at the Hope Community Center will continue from 9:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Book moving will finish up at Adrian Public Library 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. and 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. From 10:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M., students will help sort more donations at Associated Charities and will play Bingo with children at the Boys and Girls Club 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.

The week will wrap up on Friday, April 4 as students assist with classes at Hope Community Center 9:30 A.M. – 2:00 P.M., help sort donations at Associated Charities 10:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M., and escort the Boys and Girls Club to the Adrian College baseball game on the College campus from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Many student organizations on campus are involved with Community Outreach Week 2008. Various fraternities and sororities, which make up the Greek Life community at Adrian College, are heavily participating as well as many other organizations and individuals.
