President Docking
to Give ‘State of the College’ posted

ADRIAN,
Mich. – There has been a whirlwind of change at
Adrian College since its Presidential Inauguration one
year ago. A stadium has been dedicated, an ice arena
is taking shape, and academic programs are set for major
change – all of which are contributing to record-breaking
growth in enrollment.
How does the College plan to capitalize
on this momentum in the coming year?
President Jeffrey R. Docking will
offer some of his thoughts about Adrian’s future
when he presents “The Renaissance Begins: The
2007 State of the College Address,” scheduled
Wednesday, March 28, at 12:15 p.m. in the Adrian Tobias
Room. A reception will follow.
The speech will highlight the tremendous
advances that can overtake an institution when everyone
works together.
It would be difficult to find another
college in this country that has experienced the extraordinary
advances that Adrian has experienced in the past 20
months. The changes go much deeper than what is visible
from US-223, the highway that threads along its western
edge. In his address, Docking will seek to explain the
difference between the easily measurable and the educationally
significant.
“On the 148th anniversary of
Adrian College – on our Founder’s Day –
the perplexities of our forebears remain ours today,”
Docking said. “However, our forebears, like us,
knew that education is humanity’s greatest hope
for the future.”
The State of the College is an annual
tradition on the Adrian College campus. However, this
year the public and press are invited. Mark your calendars
to either attend in person or to read or listen to the
speech that afternoon on the Adrian College website,
www.adrian.edu.
In addition to the speech and reception,
a coffee welcome in Merillat Sport & Fitness Center
on Charles Street is scheduled from 10:30 – 11
a.m., followed by a campus tour (walking and one van
up to 25 persons) that will depart from the Merillat
lobby.
The Adrian Tobias Room is adjacent
to Ritchie Marketplace (dining hall). A campus
map is available online.
