Adrian College Brings Renowned Speaker to Campus posted 2/11/10
Rupert Isacson to speak at convocation
Adrian, Mich. - As part of Adrian College’s Disabilities Awareness Week 2010, Rupert Isacson, a world famous speaker, will be on campus presenting about the film and his book both entitled “The Horse Boy” on Wednesday Feb. 24 at noon in Dawson Auditorium.
Mr. Isacson is most famous for his book “The Horse Boy”, which highlights his family’s four week adventure through Mongolia and their efforts to help their autistic son Rowan. Rowan, who was born with autism, often experienced difficulties with “demonic” tantrums, speech delays and incontinence. Rupert’s heartfelt trip through Mongolia took him, his wife and their son on a journey they will never forget.
While Isacson is careful to not view autism as something that needs to be ‘cured’ his journey was his way to try to help Rowan and soothe his tantrums and difficulties. In “The Horse Boy” and during his film, Mr. Isacson speaks of an amazing healing process that took place after the trip. According to Mr. Isacson some of his son’s worst behavioral issues nearly disappeared.
In addition to having Mr. Isacson speak, Adrian College will also be offering a screening of the renowned film “The Horse Boy” as a prelude to his convocation. The film will be showing on Monday, Feb. 22 in Dawson Auditorium at 7 P.M.
Admission to the exclusive showing of “The Horse Boy” is a $5.00 donation to Lenawee Therapeutic Riding. Lenawee Therapeutic Riding is a NARHA Premier Accredited Center serving Lenawee County for over 20 years.
Dawson Auditorium is located on the Adrian College campus off of Charles St. |
