February events are announced

ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College’s art department invites students and the community to attend, or participate in, seven upcoming events. These February events offer the opportunity to attend a number of art exhibits and other related experiences in Lenawee County. For Adrian College art students, each of the listed events qualifies as art experience in the department.

The Region Three K-12 Art Exhibition is an annual event held by the Michigan Art Education Association.  Student work selected for the exhibition will be on display in Stubnitz Gallery located in Downs Hall on S. Madison Street. From Friday, Feb. 12 through Sunday, Feb. 28 the gallery will be open for viewing during hours: Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. excluding Thursday which is available 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.  A reception will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, for the artists, their families, friends, teachers, and members of the college community.

Works in the exhibition were selected by art teacher members of the Michigan Art Education Association (MAEA) in Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw, and Jackson counties from among those created by their students during the year.  Art Professor Catherine Royer and Greg Jones, independent artist and adjunct instructor in the Art and Design Department, selected the works that move on to the state level exhibition. Those will be on display at the MAEA annual state conference in October.  A traveling exhibition will be selected from among the works displayed at the conference.
