Women's Basketball Welcomes
Everyone to Pink Zone Game posted
2/16/09
Wear pink to the Merillat
Center on Wednesday, Feb. 18 in support of breast
cancer awareness.
ADRIAN,
Mich. - The Adrian College women's basketball
team is partnering with the Women's Basketball
Coaches Association (WBCA) in their "Pink
Zone" initiative to help raise awareness
of breast cancer. The team is asking everyone
who attends Wednesday night's game against Kalamazoo
(7:30 tip) to wear pink and bring a donation
to help against this deadly disease.
The WBCA "Pink Zone" initiative is
a global, unified effort to assist in raising
breast cancer awareness on the court, across
campuses and in communities. The campaign began
in 2007 and more than 120 schools unified for
this effort and helped make the inaugural year
a success. In 2008, over 1,100 teams and organizations
participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and
raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness
and research. Breast cancer is the second leading
cause of death for all women and the leading
cause of cancer death in women between the ages
of 20 and 59. In the United States, breast cancer
is expected to be newly diagnosed every three
minutes, and a woman will die from breast cancer
every 13 minutes.
Please come out to the Merillat Center and support
this nobel cause on Wednesday, Feb. 18. For
more information, please visit the WBCA website
