Student Government Association Presents Self-Defense Class posted 2/12/08
Karate expert teaches female students and staff safety techniques

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College Student Government Association is sponsoring the self-defense class ‘Girl Power: Empowering Women and Teens to Live Safe, More Confident Lives’ on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 at 6:30 P.M.

John Lyle, an instructor for the Professional Karate Schools of America who also holds a fifth degree black belt, will be leading Adrian College students and staff in this empowering event. Lyle will teach the class self-defense techniques and other methods to help keep them safe.

The event is open to all female Adrian College students and faculty/staff and they are strongly encouraged to attend. This event is not open to the public. The class is free and will be held in the Adrian Tobias Room in Ritchie Marketplace from 6:30 P.M. to 8 P.M.

Participants can also purchase ‘Girl Power’ t-shirts. The Student Government Association will be selling the shirts during lunch hours at Ritchie Dining Hall for the remainder of this week as well as next Monday.
