Mark Taylor will address
Adrian College
ADRIAN,
Mich. – Author and professor Mark Taylor
will speak at convocation Wednesday, Feb. 13
at 12:00 P.M. in Dawson Auditorium.
Taylor is the author of two
books: The Executed God: The Way of the
Cross in Lockdown America and Remembering Esperanza:
A Cultural-Political Theology for North American
Praxis. He is also editor of Paul Tillich:
Theologian of the Boundaries (Fortress
Press, 1991) and co-editor of Reconstructing
Christian Theology (Fortress Press, 1994)
Aside from being an author,
Taylor is the Maxwell M. Upson Professor of
Theology and Culture at Princeton Theological
Seminary. Taylor teaches the works and ideas
of Paul Tillich and Gustavo Gutierrez. He earned
a Masters in Divinity from Union Theological
Seminary in Virginia and later earned his Ph.D.
from the University of Chicago.
Taylor also frequently teaches
and lectures in different churches in an effort
to organize justice and peace issues within
the communities. He has studied in Guatemala
and Chiapas, Mexico, analyzing culture and politics
of the churches as they move toward Mayan theology.
Dawson Auditorium is located
off of Charles Street on the Adrian College
campus. This event is free and open to the public.
