Adrian College Hosts 23rd Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration posted 1/14/10
Annual Celebration Dinner aims to bring in a crowd of over 250
ADRIAN, Mich. - Adrian College will be holding the 23rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday evening, Jan. 18.
“Attendance will be in excess of 250 individuals, from the community, businesses and area colleges,” according to Idalí Feliciano, Director of Multicultural Programs at Adrian College.
This year’s dinner will be honoring Dr. King’s work and students from both Siena Heights University and Adrian College. The event is organized by the MLK Jr. Community Celebration Planning Committee. This committee is made up of individuals from the community, as well as staff and students from the area’s three colleges (Siena Heights University, Adrian College and Jackson Community College).
The Student Service Award will be given to two students at the dinner, one from Siena Heights University and one from Adrian College. This award has been given out since 1989 to students who have shown excellence in both academics and in serving their respective colleges by being an active member of the college community.
This year’s dinner will feature keynote speaker Antonio Galvan, who is a Siena Heights University Alum and was a recipient of the Student Service Award in 2001.
