Equestrian Team Finished First Show Season posted 1/13/10
Ally Lowe and Laura Thompson qualify for Regional’s
ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Equestrian Team completed their first show season on January 9 and 10, 2010. The show, hosted by Michigan State University, was a successful one for the team.
Adrian College competitors represented the school well with sophomores Ally Lowe, Laura Thompson and Colleen Tekamp all placing first in their respective divisions.
The high scores have enabled Lowe and Thompson to qualify for Regional’s which means they will compete against the best riders from schools such as Michigan State University, University of Michigan and Albion College.
Dean of Student Affairs Kristi Maxwell, and advisor to the equestrian team, was pleased with the team’s progress.
“I believe that with the team unity and momentum this group has achieved over the past few years, they will certainly continue to grow,” Maxwell said. “This program has grown very quickly into something that Adrian College can be proud of.”
Upon hearing of the group’s success, President Jeffrey Docking reinforced the school’s initial decision to encourage the existence of an equestrian team on campus.
“The success of our equestrian riders confirms that the College made a very wise decision in supporting this sport,” Docking said. “I am delighted for these students and for our student government which made a strong investment in this program.”
The date and location for Regional’s has not yet been decided. |
