Empty Bowls Off to Successful Start updated 1/25/10
Adrian College Art and Design Department Raises over $5,000 for the Hungry in Lenawee
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Empty Bowls Project is off to an incredible start. The first of the four events, which was held on Thursday, Jan. 21, sponsored by Community Arts of Tecumseh at Evans Street Station restaurant in downtown Tecumseh, served more than 350 bowls of soup or chili and raised more than $5500 in two-and-a-half hours.
The event was a complete sell-out and 100 percent of the money raised by this and the upcoming Empty Bowls luncheons is being donated to the Salvation Army of Lenawee food pantry. The handmade bowls can be purchased on site at the events, filled with soup and later taken home.
Adrian College art students, teaching assistants, alumni and staff, Community Clay students, and the Adrian College Youth Art Program have all been making bowls with the goal of 500 bowls to be offered for a donation of $10-$20.
The next event will take place on the Adrian College campus in Caine Student Center on Thursday, Feb. 4 from 11am-1pm with food donated by Sodexho. The Caine Student Center is located on Williams St.

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Art and Design Department at will sponsor three Empty Bowls events in January and February to benefit the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. The handmade bowls can be purchased on site at the events, filled with soup and later taken home.
Adrian College art students, teaching assistants, alumni and staff, Community Clay students, and the Adrian College Youth Art Program have all been making bowls with the goal of 500 bowls to be offered for a donation of $10-$20.
The first event will be held at Evans Street Station in Tecumseh on Thursday, Jan. 21 from 11am-2pm. Evans Street Station is located at 110 S. Evans St.
The second will take place on the Adrian College campus in Caine Student Center on Thursday, Feb. 4 from 11am-1pm with food donated by Sodexho. The Caine Student Center is located on Williams St.
The last will be hosted by the First United Methodist Church on Maple Avenue in Adrian on Sunday, Feb. 21 from 11am-2 pm with food donated by Meijer, JR’s Hometown Grill & Pub, Red Lobster, Tip Top, ZZ’s Sports Bar & Grill.
