LCC reschedules Christmas
Concert to Jan. 13
posted 1/7/08
ADRIAN, Mich. - Due to an ice storm on the original
Christmas concert date(December 9), the Lenawee
Community Chorus has rescheduled their Christmas
Concert to take place on Sunday, Jan. 13 at
3:00 PM in the Adrian College Herrick Chapel.
Dr. Hodgman, conductor of
the chorus says, “I suppose we can call
it our Epiphany concert – it captures
the spirit of the entire season!”
The chorus will perform Vaughan
Williams' "Fantasia on Christmas Carols"
a hauntingly beautiful medley of English carols
featuring baritone soloist Stephen Lancaster
and cellist Diane Platte. Lancaster has performed
roles with the University of Michigan Opera
Theatre, Arbor Opera Theatre, Motor City Lyric
Opera, Great Lakes Lyric Opera, Opera Notre
Dame, and the American Institute for Musical
Studies in Graz, Austria. The warmth and brilliance
of Lancaster’s voice promises to compliment
beautifully the lyrical playing of Diane Platte
and organist/pianist MaryAnn Balduf.
Also on the program, a narrated
story about a monk and his singing donkey titled
"Brother Heinrich's Christmas" by
John Rutter. The work will feature Diane Du
Russel as the narrator, as well as Andrew Parker
(oboe) and Susan Nelson (bassoon).
In addition to other favorite
classic holiday choruses featured on the program,
the chorus will be joined by organist Michael
Gartz as well as two Adrian College seniors,
Gerianne Ditto (soprano) and Sarah Bartrum (flute).
Admission for the concert
is $10 at the door and free for students 17
and under.
