Note: The Adrian College Bookstore has
Tim Wise's book "White Like Me" in
stock.
White Like Me, Author Tim
Wise $13.95
From his experiences as a white anti-racist activist
and white American, Tim Wise has crafted the first history
of what it means to be part of the "majority"
in America. Combining the emotion of personal stories
with insights gleaned from fifteen years as an educator,
White Like Me examines the ways in which white
reap the benefits of "racial preferences"
- whether or not they actively engage in racism. By
critically assessing the magnitude of racial privilege
and its costs - to people of color and whites as well
- Wise provides an elegant and provocative memoir relevant
to activists, educators, and average everyday folks
seeding to under stand why race continues to shape life
in the United States.

March 14th Convocation Speaker
Warped Passages, Author Lisa
Randall $15.95
The universe has many secrets.
It may hide additional dimensions of space other then
the familiar three we recognize. There might even
be another universe adjacent to ours, invisible and
unattainable...for now.
Warped Passages is a brilliantly readable
and altogether exhilarating journey that tracks the
arc of discovery from early twentieth-century physic
to the razor's edge of modern scientific theory. One
of the world's leading theoretical physicists, Lisa
Randall provides astonishing scientific possibilities
that, until recently, were restricted to the realm
of science fiction. Unraveling the twisted threads
of the most current debates on relativity, quantum
mechanics, and gravity, she explores some of the most
fundamental questions posed by Nature-taking us into
the warped, hidden dimensions underpinning the universe
we live in, demystifying the science of the myriad
worlds that may exist just beyond our own.
