Longtime businessman Ron Reeves
takes the helm for fund raising
ADRIAN, Mich. – Within 14 hours
of retiring from Venchurs, Inc. as its executive vice
president and general manager, Ron Reeves was welcomed
to Adrian College as the new Vice President of Development.
Since Reeves assumed the position
in December, he has been in charge of fund raising at
the College. This includes the $15 million Renaissance
Campaign that is currently underway.
Reeves is no stranger to Adrian. He
is a 1964 graduate, and has served on the College's
Board of Trustees for the last 10 years. He is truly
excited about working for his alma mater at this time
in the College's history.
“I'm living a dream! It is a
thrill to be a part of the transformation going on at
our College,” Reeves said. “I hope you will
join me in changing the face of Adrian for the future.”
The Renaissance Plan has been underway
at Adrian for over one year now. Developed under the
leadership of President Jeffrey R. Docking, its goal
is to increase enrollment and improve academics.
Changes so far include an on-campus
performance stadium, a refurbished dining hall, campus
apartments, and an Admissions House. An ice arena will
be completed by next fall, and there are plans for extensive
remodeling of a residence hall and for a pool, new tennis
courts, and new baseball and softball facilities.
The incoming class this past fall
increased by about 28 percent. More students are expected
next fall; applications for fall 2007 have risen by
about 200 percent over last year at this time.
The Renaissance Campaign aims to raise
$15 million for the Renaissance Plan. So far, more than
$10 million has been raised.
Venchurs, Inc. is located in Adrian,
Mich. Reeves and his wife Kay, a 1962 graduate of Adrian
College, are residents of Adrian.
