Grant from the DaimlerChrysler
Corporation Fund will promote student success
ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College
was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the DaimlerChrysler
Corporation Fund through the Michigan Colleges Foundation
(MCF).
The award will fund the “Mentoring
Minority Students for Success” (MMSS) program.
MMSS is a multi-semester mentoring program featuring
faculty and upper class student mentors who will work
with first-year minority students. The program is designed
to increase the chances for success for these students.
In announcing the award, MCF President
William H. Liebold congratulated Adrian College for
its “efforts to ensure the success of students
who typically face the greatest challenges to complete
college.”
MMSS is under the direction of Idali
Feliciano, director of multicultural programs at Adrian
College. She is currently recruiting faculty and upper
class mentors to begin working with students.
“I am excited about these opportunities
for our students and will work very hard to make sure
that we retain and graduate our minority students,”
Feliciano said.
