Campus Hosts Local Author for Book Signing posted 1/11/07
Harry McNeer publishes a collection of his ancestors’ Civil War letters

ADRIAN, Mich. – Local author Harry McNeer is schedule to sign copies of his book, “The Letters of John and Susan Morgan: A Story of Everyday Life, Love and Loss in the Civil War Years,” in the Heritage Room of Shipman Library on Jan. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The book is a self-published collection of letters between two of his great-great-grandparents written in 1862. It is a descriptive time trip through one of this country’s most tragic and avoidable conflicts.

“I have long been a believer in grassroots history,” McNeer said. “These letters contain 100 percent grassroots history.”

McNeer has taught part time in Adrian’s modern languages and cultures department since 1995, and is the former director of campus safety.

Shipman Library is located off Williams Street on the Adrian College campus. Copies of the book, which cost $11.95, will be available at the signing or may be obtained by sending a check for $14.80 ($11.95 +$2.85 shipping) to Harry McNeer, P.O. Box 672, Adrian, MI 49221.
