Adrian College Invited Public to Unique Planetarium Presentation posted 11/5/09
“Cycles:  The Hopi and Their Cosmology” given by Ramson Lomatewam

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Robinson Planetarium at Adrian College presents “Cycles:  The Hopi and Their Cosmology” by Ramson Lomatewam on Friday, Nov.13 at 7 P.M. in Peelle Hall.

Under a canopy of Fall constellations in the planetarium, Lomatewam, Hopi Artist, educator and poet, will share concepts of the Hopis' view of the cosmos. His discussion will center on the solar and lunar cycles, and will touch upon their connections with the stars.

Ramson Lomatewama is an award-winning glass artist, kachina doll carver, and poet. Born into the eagle clan, his life on the Hopi reservation is clearly the heart of his art and poetry. He is currently living in Hotevilla, Ariz. on the Hopi reservation, writing poetry and creating his hand-blown glass art.

This event is free and open to the public. The Robinson Planetarium is located in Peelle Hall on the Adrian College campus. For more information, contact Dr. Sarah Hanson at 517-264-3944 or Mark Fairclough at 517-265-5161 Ext. 4788.
