Winter Fun in Adrian College’s Clay Studio posted 11/24/09

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Community Clay Program sponsored by the Adrian College Art and Design Department will offer a winter class in ceramics called “Decoration and Throwing.”

Beginners through experienced clay students will learn all about techniques for decorating ceramic surfaces in a variety of clays and firing atmospheres and temperatures. The potter’s wheel will be explored as a tool for making creative vessels.

Class will be taught by Pi Benio, Adrian College professor and Adrain College BFA’s and teaching assistants John Ahearn and Meghan Walton, with a special guest demonstration by Bryan VanBenschoten, former head potter at Greenfield Village.

Enrollment will be limited to the first 15 students to register. Classes will be held in the fully equipped ceramics studio in Mahan Hall on the Adrian College campus. Class will be held Saturdays 9:30-noon, Jan 16 thru Feb 20. Generous studio time will be available during the week. Cost for tuition, studio time and all materials is $160.00. Half scholarships for high school students are available.
