ADRIAN, Mich. – A new
math lab was dedicated during a small ceremony
at Adrian College on Saturday Nov. 10 in honor
of the late professor, Cynthia Tremonti Bosio.
Cynthia Bosio was a professor
of mathematics at Adrian College for 25 years
and passed away last January after battling
with cancer. Bosio was known for her ability
to take difficult concepts and make them accessible
to students.
Many of Cynthia’s former
colleagues, friends, and surviving family members
including husband David, son Greg, and daughter
Anne were present for this special dedication.
During the tear-filled ceremony,
President Jeffrey Docking had nothing but kind
words for Professor Bosio and her family.
“Cindy's talent as a
teacher and her devotion to her students made
her one of the best-loved and most effective
teachers on campus,” said Docking. “For
twenty-five years, Cindy quietly made her mark
as a leader among her peers, and as a friend
to all.”
The new math lab, located
in Peelle Hall, reflects Bosio’s love
for math and the extreme devotion she had for
all of her students.
“Among Cindy's many
gifts was the ability to help students feel
welcomed and to make difficult mathematical
concepts clear,” said Docking. “Therefore,
it is right and fitting that we dedicate this
space to her life. The Cynthia Tremonti Bosio
Mathematics Lab is a place where students can
gather comfortably, feel welcomed, learn math,
ask questions, get help from tutors, or just
do their homework. I have no doubt that the
students who use this space will feel her loving
spirit with them. “
The new math lab provides
drop-in tutoring for students taking Mathematics
courses. It contains computers, plenty of space
with tables and chairs for studying and tutoring
purposes, a large marker board, and other essentials
needed to learn mathematical concepts.
The Cynthia Tremonti
Bosio Mathematics Lab is now open to all Adrian
College students and faculty. The lab is run
by the Department of Mathematics and staffed
by student tutors. It is open 10 A.M. to 5 P.M.
Monday-Friday.
