| Music Department Hosts 11th Annual Choral Festival posted 10/7/10
Local high school choirs to perform
ADRIAN, Mich. The Adrian College Music Department will host the annual choral festival for local high schools on Sunday, October 17 beginning at 3 pm in the Adrian College Chapel. This event is free and open to the public, and doors open at 2:45pm.
The concert will feature performances by high school choirs from Adrian, Tecumseh, Bedford, Clinton, and Madison. The Adrian College Choir and Chamber Choir will also perform.
This year’s clinician is Christine Hornbach. Dr .Hornbach is assistant professor of music and coordinator of music education at Hope College, Holland, Michigan. She received a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and a Doctor of Philosophy from Michigan State University (East Lansing).
She has taught music in the public schools in Michigan and Minnesota as well as early childhood music at Michigan State University's Community Music School and Eastern Michigan University’s Community Music Academy. Dr. Hornbach recently founded an early childhood music program for the Holland, Michigan community
Dr. Hornbach has presented workshops at the state, regional, and national MENC In-Service Conferences, as well as local and international venues. She has published an article in the “Journal of Research in Music Education.” She is currently serving as president-elect for the Michigan Music Educators Association.
At the choral festival, guests will have the opportunity to hear each of the choirs perform and then watch as Dr. Hornbach works with each group on improving their performance.
