Presents Annual Pottery Sale

department hosts event on Oct. 16
ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian
College Art and Design Department at is sponsoring
its yearly Pottery Sale on Friday, Oct. 16 10:00am-6:00pm
and Saturday, Oct. 17 11:00am-6:00pm in the
Hickman Board Room in Caine Student Center.
Prices range from 50 cents to $60 and feature
everything from the usage to the sculptural
in every size imaginable. The work was produced
by Adrian College students, alumni and staff.
All proceeds benefit needs in the ceramics program
at Adrian College. The public is welcome.
The department is also gearing
up for three Empty Bowls events in January and
February. Empty Bowls is held in support of
the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. Potters make
bowls that a meal is served in; the donation
for the meal also includes the handmade bowl,
one of a wide variety made by Adrian College
students, alumni, professors and the Youth Art
and Community Clay programs.
A pottery throw will be held
for the community members to make bowls for
the events on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 1-4 p.m.
in the AC Ceramics Studio, Room 202 in the Mahan
Center for Art and Interior Design. To participate,
bring a canned good to be donated to the Salvation
Army. The first Empty Bowls event will be at
Evans Street Station in Tecumseh on Jan. 21,
2010 from 11:00am-2:00pm. Two others will be
held in Adrian in February. Donations for the
meal and bowl will range in cost from $10-$20.
