Adrian College art students
receive awards at the 7th Student Juried Art
Exhibition
ADRIAN, Mich. – The
winners of the 7th Student Juried Art Exhibition
at Adrian College were announced during an awards
reception on Oct. 7.
The exhibition is currently
on view in Stubnitz Gallery .Students enrolled
last spring and were invited to enter up to
five pieces of art work. These submissions were
juried by an outside professional during the
summer. This year's juror was John Leyland,
a sculptor based in Ann Arbor. He is the ceramics
technician for the School of Art and Design
at the University of Michigan and teaches at
the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
At the reception, Mr. Leyland
explained his criteria for selection of works
and for awards. The list of students below won
cash, art equipment, or gift certificates, including
some from the Arrington Bookstore.
John Ahearn, a senior from
Tecumseh, Mich. and a graduate of Tecumseh
High School.
Rhonda Beckermeyer, a senior
from Cedar Lake, Mich. and a graduate of Great
Lakes Adventist Academy.
Jillian Brown, a sophomore
from Lawton Mich. and a graduate of Lawton
High School.
Bryana Dennis, a junior
from Attica Ohio and a graduate of Seneca
East High School.
Eddie Frank, a sophomore
from Bryan Ohio and a graduate of Bryan High
School.
Sarah Henry, a junior from
Gibraltar, Mich. and a graduate of Oscar A.
Carlson High School.
Karly Herron, a senior from
Saline, Mich. and a graduate of Saline High
School.
Ashlee Hill, a junior from
Adrian, Mich. and a graduate of Lenawee Christian
High School.
Casie Jensen, a senior from
Brown City, Mich. and a graduate of Brown
City High School.
Sarah Muylle, a junior from
St. Johns Mich. and a graduate of St. Johns
High School.
Matt Nesbary, a senior from
Southfield, Mich. and a graduate of Southfield
High School.
Amy O'Connor, graduated
from Adrian College in April 2008, and is
from Adrian, Mich.
The 7th Student Juried Art
Exhibition is on display now in the Stubnitz
Gallery and runs thru Sunday Oct. 26. Stubnitz
Gallery is located in Downs Hall off of S. Madison
Street on the Adrian College campus.
This event is free and
open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday
through Saturday 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and
9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Thursdays. More information
