Dr. Curton gives resume
tips at Blissfield library program.
BLISSFIELD,
MI – On Thursday, October 25, at 7:00
pm, The Schultz-Holmes Memorial Library in Blissfield
presents Adrian College English Professor Dr.
Carman Curton as part of its Phyllis Robertson
Lecture Series. Dr. Curton’s program,
titled, “Putting Your Best Foot Forward:
Creating Resumes with Pop-ortunity,” will
offer tips and guidelines for creating effective
resumes and cover letters.
Also the wife of Schultz-Holmes
Library Director Bob Barringer, Dr. Curton has
led many seminars on resume writing and business
writing. She brings to the enterprise 20 years
of experience in advertising, professional writing,
and the teaching of writing. Her approach combines
the principles of advertising and technical
writing to create a layout and narrative that
is inviting and effective, positioning the job
applicant as a valuable commodity.
The library’s
Phyllis Robertson Lecture Series was made possible
by a gift from the estate of Phyllis Robertson,
a local writer and photographer, as well as
a long-time benefactor to and advocate of the
library. Programs this fall will include a resume
seminar and a special preview of the Adrian
Symphony’s holiday concert by the orchestra’s
conductor.
