Adrian/Oxford
Trinity Term Program
This four week
course is an opportunity to study at one of
the world’s premier learning institutions
while earning Adrian College credit. As guests
of Oxford University’s study abroad
program, students will immerse themselves
in Shakespeare’s
country, language, and plays in the exquisite
medieval city of Oxford, England. The course
will be taught by Oxford University Dons under
the direction of Professor Robin Bott of Adrian
College. In conjunction with the course, participants
get to watch the plays that they study performed
by the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon
and at the Globe Theater in London. Additionally,
there are opportunities for students to go
on excursions to places such as Warwick Castle,
Winchester, Bath, and London. In the past,
course activities included a birthday garden
party for the Queen and a raucous dinner cruise
down the Thames. Oxford’s many museums
(Oxford is home to the last dodo, Alice in
Wonderland, and King Alfred’s jewel),
medieval churches, historic colleges, shops,
restaurants, and pubs make it the playground
of the stars and a college town that is like
no other.

Situated in the beautiful
Cotswolds area of the English countryside,
Oxford, the city of spires, inspired the creators
of Alice in Wonderland, the Narnian Chronicles,
and the Lord of the Rings. Just one hour from
London by train, two by bus, Oxford is an
ideal home base for daytrips to London or
weekend trips to Scotland, Ireland, or the
Continent. In the past, students have toured
Italy, Germany, and France during long weekend
breaks from class. This is your chance to
do that study abroad that you always wanted
to do while at Adrian College!
For those students
who want to go to Oxford but don’t want
to study Shakespeare, arrangements can be
made to study any course or subject during
the four week period.
