Workshops / Programs
The Institute for Health Studies
seeks opportunities to educate students and
faculty in developments in the health care industry.
A recent example is the course Survey of
Health Professions. Students enrolled in the
course welcome guest speakers from many health
professions, read current books addressing health
care issues, and prepare their own career plans.
Throughout the year, the Institute conducts
short workshops directed at preparing students
for futures in health care.
Adrian seniors or alumni who have recently completed
the complex application process required to
enter medical or other professional school may
visit to discuss their experiences. Other workshops
may address the role of experiential learning
and how to go about securing internships or
shadowing experiences. Students who are juniors
and entering the application phase may prefer
to attend an overview of the steps in preparing
a first rate application, or attend practice
interview sessions.
Plans are also underway for guest speakers from
the life sciences, and multi-disciplinary seminars
developed around current issues in health care. The lecture series "Health Care's Leading Edge" brings experts to campus each year.
