Campus Employment Guidelines
The purpose of Adrian College Campus Employment
is to help students build professional skills
in a business-like setting. Campus employment
is also a great resume builder for students
with little-to-no professional experience prior
to an intern or externship the student may participate
in while an Adrian College student.
Federal,
State or College-funded Campus Employment (AKA
Work-Study) is available to all students who
attend Adrian College. Students are allotted
up to $900 per semester that they are eligible
to make through Adrian College’s Campus
Employment program. Once a student has reached
their allotment for the semester, they are asked
to discontinue their Campus Employment until
the next semester. For this reason, it is highly
encouraged that the student and their on-campus
employer sit down and formulate a plan so they
can continue to work throughout the entire semester.
Before
a student can begin to work on campus, they
must complete their tax documentation so they
can obtain a ‘blue card’. In order
to get this card the student needs a valid driver’s
license (or picture identification card) and
either an original social security card, original
birth certificate or passport. The student can
take these pieces of information to the Business
Office, located in Stanton Administration Building.
Once all the necessary information is collected,
the student will be issued their blue card and
is then able to work on campus.
The
Sunday before classes start in the fall, Financial
Aid holds a Campus Employment job fair in Caine
Student Center. All students who plan on participating
in the Campus Employment program are encouraged
to attend to help them find Campus Employment.
Blue card registration is also available at
this event. Students who do not immediately
get calls from campus employers are encouraged,
like traditional jobs, to follow up about the
positions they are interested in.
Any
student who is interested in Campus Employment
and does not have a job, like traditional jobs,
is responsible for finding their own employment.
Students are to go anywhere they are interested
in working and inquire about employment there.
If the student is unsuccessful in finding a
campus position the student can contact the
Office of Financial Aid to inquire about possible
job openings.
Students
are not permitted to have more than one on-campus
position at a time. If a student finds new Campus
Employment, their new supervisor must email
the Office of Financial Aid and the student’s
time sheet with be redirected to their new supervisor
(workstudy@adrian.edu).
All
campus employers reserve the right to require
students to sign confidentiality agreements
and to hold students to individual employment
disciplinary actions as they see fit.
Campus
Employment payment occurs on a bi-weekly basis.
The student will be able to pick up checks in
the Cashier’s Office. Students can either
opt to apply their Campus Employment funds toward
their account balances or they can opt to keep
the funds to use at their disposal.
For
any further questions or information please
feel free to contact the Office of Financial
Aid at workstudy@adrian.edu
or call x4306.
