Geology Club Events
In its ten year
history, the Geology Club has sponsored a number of field trips. During the 1999 - 2000 school year, they sponsored two field trips; one to Hot Springs, Arkansas and one to Big Bend National Park in Texas. The following
year we went to Indiana to collect geodes from a local roadcut
and quarry. In the Fall of 2001, the
students furiously worked on several fund drives to raise money for a field
trip to northern Arizona and southern Utah during Spring Break, 2002. SInce that time they have sponsored a return
trip to Arkansas in the Fall of 2002, a trip to West Virginia, Virginia and
Pennsylvania in the Spring of 2005, and went with the Petrology
class to Arkansas in the Spring of 2007. In the 2007/2008 academic year, the
club went to Sylvania to collect trilobites sponsored a canoe/kayak trip.
Additionally they raised funds to go to the Rchester Mineralogical Symposium
in April. A link to photo highlights from these trips can be found on the
Earth Science Department
home page.
