Day 1. We FINALLY left Adrian about 2:30 in the afternoon. We drove for much of the day, arrived Cheat River State Park just after dark and set up camp.

Day 2. We got up early (it was a little easier for some than others) and headed to the Cheat River Gorge overlook..
So here it is. See the gorge and the river and.... OK, maybe not. So Rock is telling us what we could see of the fog was not so thick... So we headed south and then east toward Seneca Rocks.
Seems there was a bit of road construction on the way so Sarah took the opportunity to get out and do a quick lecture about the strata we had been driving by.
We skipped the Germany Valley overlook as it was fogged in.
Another foggy outcrop. Here Rock told us about the sedimentary layers of the Catskill Delta.
We stopped at Seneca Rocks for lunch and then proceeded to Shenandoah National Park.
The weather finally began to cooperate. This is the view from Skyline Drive looking east.
We camped at Big Meadows campground where we cooked some tasty hamburgers and hot dogs.

Day 3. The weather was much nicer today.
We made a few more stops in Shenandoah NP to look at volcanic feeder dikes and columnar jointing before heading to the Johnstown Flood Museum.
View from Skyline Drive.

When we got to Johnstown, Colin Campbell took the opportunity to get a quick nap in the sunshine.

This was where my camera batteries died. And the spare ones were dead too. So if any of you have any pictures that you would like to contribute I would be happy to post them.
We then headed to Indian Caverns where our guide gave us a wonderful tour of the cave. From here we proceeded to camp at a very nice state park in PA.

Day 4. We stopped to collect fossils and look at the regressive sequence of rocks before we headed back to Adrian.
