Geology Club Field Trip

Hot Springs, Arkansas (November 14-17, 2002)

Students: Chris Meyers, Melissa Reed, Doug Damery and Jon Gentner

Day 1. We left Adrian painfully early and drove all day. We arrived at camp shortly after dark where we met up with the folks from the University of New Orleans.

Day 2. We spent the day collecting minerals in the Magnet Cove area of Arkansas
We had quite the caravan of Adrian College and University of New Orleans vehicles.

The students all collected the pyrite from a stream bed.

Collecting the mineral brookite.

Day 3

Once again we were treated like royalty at Fiddlers Ridge mine. The owners cleared the way so we could all find some wonderful quartz crystals.

Folding of the rocks in the Ouachita Mountains. Jon Gentner for scale.

Day 4 The dreaded trip home. Once again, we drove all day.......
We saw this cool police car in Missouri on the way home.
