Test
yourself for hidden bias at the Tolerance.org
website
"In the United States, equality
is protected by the Constitution and supported by civil
rights laws. Yet reports of unequal treatment because
of skin color, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation,
country of origin, ability and other differences persist.
This discrimination is based on stereotypes and prejudice
that social psychologists believe linger in most of
us. Even though we believe we see and treat people as
equals, hidden biases may still influence our perceptions
and actions.
Created by psychologists at Yale University
and the University of Washington, this collection of
Implicit Association Tests (IAT) measures unconscious
bias. We invite you to test yourself and reveal what
may be lingering in your psyche. Each test takes about
five minutes, and your privacy is protected -- no identifying
information is collected or distributed.
Your test results may disturb you
-- more than one million tests have been taken and the
majority reveal unconscious bias. Dig deeper into the
science behind the tests, into stereotypes and prejudice,
and into the societal effects of bias."
