Important
Information About
CREDENTIAL FILES
Dear Students and Alumni:
Adrian College is hereby discontinuing
the Credential File System beginning January
14, 2008.
The past several years have marked a sharp decline
in the usage of the credential file system.
Evaluation of state and national collegiate
credential file practices has confirmed that
the credential file system is no longer a current
or effective tool based on modern industry standards.
Students are increasing their career preparedness
and typically maintain personal files of recommendation
letters, resumes and transcripts. Additionally,
advances in technology allow students to self-manage
electronic credential files and also prompt
employers to request electronic recommendations
or require that candidates supply a references
list for direct contact.
The Office of Career Planning continues to assist
students in developing strategies and techniques
to strengthen their employment marketability
including career counseling, internship guidance,
presentations, the A.C. Career Network, resume
and cover letter critiques, mock interviews,
job search assistance, interview preparation
and full-time/part-time job listings.
Beginning immediately, students/alumni
who created an open credential file between
August 2005 through January 2008
may request that their original file be mailed
to them. No new files will be created.
By laws of confidentiality closed
files may not be released.
Resumes should no longer refer employers to
the Office of Career Planning. Reference sheets
and e-credential file systems may be used in
the system’s place
Students/alumni who wish to request August 2005
– January 2008 open credential
