Laurie Dickens Perkins, ’82, is a native of Lenawee County. She graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1978, then graduated from Adrian College in 1982 with a degree in history. While on campus, she was active in Phi Alpha Theta. She received her Masters in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame in 1986. She worked for several small County Historical Societies and Museums before coming to her current position at the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing more than 18 years ago. She is currently working on her PhD in American Studies where her interest is in cheese and its production in Lenawee County. In September 2005, Laurie married Eric S. Perkins at Colonial Fort Michilimackinac at Mackinaw City, Michigan. Laurie is very proud of her Adrian College education because she feels it has helped her achieve many of her professional goals.
