The AC Fund

The purpose of the AC Fund is to encourage the support of alumni, parents and friends to Adrian College. AC Fund gifts, which are primarily unrestricted (meaning the donor allows the College to determine how the money is used), help to relieve the burden of tuition and assist with Adrian’s daily needs. To learn more about the AC Fund, see the information below.

What are you supporting?

Your generosity to the College and your participation in the AC Fund enable current students to receive a learning experience of the highest quality.

Funds raised through the AC Fund have a direct impact on the everyday lives of students and are applied in a variety of ways. AC Fund contributions are used to meet the College's essential needs in the following areas:

• Keeping tuition down
• Student Scholarship assistance
• Recruitment and Retention of students
• Critical building maintenance
• Maintaining natural beauty of campus
• General Operating Costs such as heating and electricity

The AC Fund helps Adrian College to achieve its mission of preparing students for active, responsible, and successful lives.

Why contribute to the AC Fund?

The stronger the AC Fund, the better equipped the College is to provide a fine educational environment and to address Adrian College's most urgent needs, such as student scholarships and building maintenance.

Foundations and corporations see alumni giving percentages (the total number of alumni who donate) as a sign of strength or weakness. They are much more willing to give financial assistance to institutions whose alumni help their alma mater.

In addition to gifts being tax-deductible (the actual cost of the gift is much less after you file your taxes), the College counts on alumni participation. Publications such as US News & World Report, the most well known ranking agency for colleges and universities, also use giving percentages as a criterion in their ranking systems. The higher the giving percentage, the higher the ranking!

As you can see, every gift to the AC Fund, regardless of size, is significant in many ways!

Who Participates?

Anyone with devotion for Adrian College and its traditions is encouraged to support the College through the AC Fund.

When to give?

The AC Fund parallels the Adrian College fiscal year, beginning each year on July 1st and ending June 30th.

Matching Gift Program

Make your gift go even further!

Arranging a corporate matching gift is an easy way for Adrian College alumni, parents and friends to increase the impact of their personal contributions to the College.

Check to see if your company is eligible today! Request a matching gift form from your human resources department, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to Adrian College may double or possibly triple!

Common Questions

1. How do I give to the AC Fund?

a. Designate 'AC Fund' when you Give Online.

b. Call Robyn Matthias, Development Officer / Campaign Coordinator, at 517-264-3337.

c. Mail the Printable AC Fund Form.

2. If I contribute early in the year, will I still receive other mailings?

Yes, you will. The other mailings are sent for two reasons: first, many people like to make more than one gift to the College in a given year; and second, the mailings contain interesting Adrian College-related information.

3. What are matching gifts?

Matching Gifts are company-donated contributions that match the contributions made by employees, sometimes on a one-to-one, two-to-one, or even a three-to-one basis. This program enables some donors to increase the impact of their contributions to Adrian College.

If a company participates in this program, it means they are willing to donate a gift to Adrian College that matches, or equals, an employee's personal contribution without any additional obligation from the individual donor.
