DESCRIPTION OF EVENT:
One of two commencement exercises that celebrate the accomplishments of Adrian College graduates. The baccaulearate speaker is chosen by the senior class. The class also chooses three students to speak. The commencement ceremony involves the procession of students and faculty through the “gauntlet”- a show of thanks and congratulations by both. The commencement speaker is chosen by administration. The Cane Ceremony, a time honored tradition dating back to late 19th century is marked by a faculty speaker chosen by the senior class. The Cane Ceremony involves the speaker and the tying of a ribbon to the Cane that contains all the names of the graduating class. The Cane is then passed to the junior class for safe keeping. Regalia required.

PARTICIPANTS: Entire campus, graduates and families.
