Athletic Training
Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) are allied
health care professionals who specialize in
the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of
athletic injuries. ATCs also have knowledge
in the areas of sport performance enhancement,
sport nutrition, and sport psychology. In order
to become an ATC, students must first graduate
from a CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of
Athletic Training Education) accredited program,
and then achieve success on the national Board
of Certification (BOC) exam.
The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP)
at Adrian College is rapidly changing and growing.
Tina
Claiborne, PhD, ATC, CSCS was hired
in the fall of 2007 to take Adrian’s ATEP
through the process of initial accreditation.
She was previously the program director at the
University of Southern Maine, where she was
successful in leading her program though re-accreditation.
With that experience, Adrian College is confident
that Dr. Claiborne understands the necessary
requirements to repeat accreditation success
here!
