Combined B.A./M.S. Athletic Training
Clinical Education
The Athletic Training Education Program at Adrian College believes that hands-on, experiential learning is the cornerstone of education. That’s why our athletic training students begin observation rotations as early as their sophomore year. After some initial coursework, students begin to work directly with athletes in the beginning of their junior year! Throughout their academic career, students will have accumulated 6 semesters of hands-on experience!
Below you will find some general
information regarding our clinical sites and
clinical instructors. You may also refer to
our Frequently Asked Questions
page for more information.
Requirements
to Begin Clinical Rotations
For the health and safety of all athletic training
students and the patients they work with, there
are specific academic and health requirements
that must be met prior to beginning clinical
rotations sophomore year. Please refer to our
retention
criteria and health
requirement to view these standards.

Students will gain clinical experience both
on campus with Adrian College’s ATs,
as well as off campus. Off campus sites may

Clinical
Instructors
Clinical Instructors (CI), and Approved Clinical
Instructors (ACI) are American Medical Association
or American Osteopathic Association credentialed
health care professionals. In order for a health
care professional to become and ACI for Adrian
College, they must be personally trained by
our Clinical Instructor Educator.
With training, all of our
ACIs are very familiar with the philosophies
of our program, and how to maximize our athletic
training students’ education. We hold
regular training for our ACIs to make sure that
they are up-to-date on the latest treatment
and educational techniques. We have a very strong
network of health care professionals surrounding
Adrian College, and are very proud to have the
opportunity to send our students into the community.
