Adrian College Educational Success
Program
The Adrian College Educational Success Program is designed to
increase the success of first-generation college
students by providing a close mentoring relationship
between first-generation students and faculty/
staff members who were first-generation students
themselves during the students first year of
college. In addition, ACES will provide a series
of workshops designed to inform students about
the habits of mind essential for college success;
to allow students to self-diagnose habits that
need to be strengthened; and to provide practice
in applying the habits of mind in the students'
everyday lives.
Successful applicants (called
2010 ACES cohorts) will be expected to complete
one year of the two semester program. During
that year, ACES cohorts will meet with their faculty
mentor, attend workshops, and complete surveys based
on a Habits of Mind workbook that will be the
focus of the workshops and mentoring program.
The workshops will be held on Thursdays at noon.
Students who have class conflicts with this
meeting time should not apply. Upon completion
of the program requirements at the end of each
semester, students will be awarded a $100 voucher
for textbooks through the Arrington Bookstore.
2008 & 2009 ACES cohort will partner
with faculty presenters to co-facilitate the
third series of Habits of Mind workshops, presented
for the 2010 ACES cohort.
