Shipman Library

Built in 1963, Adrian College's Library was renovated and expanded in 2000. A large, attractive space with accomodations for individual and group study as well as leisure reading. The collection numbers more than 145,000 volumes, including substantial holdings of microforms and audiovisual materials. The Library website provides on-site and remote access to the collection. In addition, over 70 research databaes, many including full-text sources, are accessible campus-wide through the web page. The library reference area contains 12 computers that are available for research, and the building also houses the Gary and Margaret Valade Technology Center, which includes 37 computers along with other computer equipment and facilities. Shipman's Interlibrary loan service allows students to borrow books, articles and other materials from college and university libraries nationwide. Two notable special collections are held at Shipman Library: The Piotrowski-Lemke Lincoln Collection and the Detroit Conference Methodist Historical Collection. The library is open to students, staff, and the greater community 87 hours per week.
