Jan 17 - 22, 2009
Twenty-two students
and several faculty/staff members of Adrian
College will be traveling to Washington, D.C.
to attend the Presidential Inauguration of Barack
Obama. Visit this page throughout the week to
follow their journey during this historical
moment in our country's history. We will try
to post updates and photos as often as possible.
January 20, 2009 - "The
Big Day"
Today was the big moment in our nation's history.
We braved the cold and crowd to watch Barack
Obama take the presidential oath. With over
2 million people in D.C. our group of students
traveled in small groups to find a spot where
they could watch the inauguration ceremonies
on one of the many jumbo trons on the mall.
Chelsea, Dr. Nesbary, Lindsey, Kevin, Crystal
and Nikki start the long walk to downtown.

One of the many crowded streets on the way there.

And the crowd goes wild!!

Our students were just as excited!

January 19, 2009 -MLK Jr Day
AC students volunteered at the Mt. Zion Cemetary
for most of the day, and then were able to do
some site seeing.

These gentlemen performed a libation ceremony.

As you can tell, students and other guests really
enjoyed it.

Dr. Nesbary addresses the volunteers, and shares
the message that voting is a great responsibilty
and that every vote does count.

Students and other volunteers took part in a
tree planting ceremony following their work
at the cemetary.

At the Smithsonian, can you make out the message?
This is probably about as close as we will get
the capital building this weekend!
Lindsay Day, Kevin Totty, Crystal Cieslak, and
Chelsea Easter took a long, very cold walk to
get to see the amazing setup of this historic
moment.
